Slow Cooker Salisbury Steak

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Patties: In a large bowl, combine the 2 lbs lean ground beef, ½ cup breadcrumbs, ¼ cup milk, 1 (1 oz) packet onion soup mix, and ½ teaspoon dried thyme. Mix all ingredients together until they are well combined, then shape the mixture into 8 uniform patties.
  2. Prep Slow Cooker & Brown Patties: Arrange the 1 sliced white onion in the bottom of your slow cooker. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, heat the 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil. Lightly dredge each patty in the ¼ cup all-purpose flour, shaking off any excess. Brown the floured patties on both sides in the hot skillet. The patties do not need to be cooked through, just nicely browned.
  3. Assemble & Cook: Place the browned beef patties on top of the sliced onions in the slow cooker, stacking them alternately. In a separate bowl, stir together the 2 (10 oz) cans condensed cream of chicken soup, ¾ cup water, and the 1 (1 oz) packet au jus mix until smooth. Pour this gravy mixture over the beef patties. Cover and cook on LOW for 4-5 hours, or until the beef is cooked through and the patties are tender.

Serve this Slow Cooker Salisbury Steak with mashed potatoes or egg noodles to soak up all that delicious gravy!
