Oatmeal Cookies with Buttercream and Chocolate

Oatmeal cookies with buttercream and chocolate – a recipe for the best oatmeal cookies layered with buttery cream and chocolate. These crunchy oatmeal cookies are so delicious and really easy to bake. The cookies are made by melting butter in a pan, then mixing in sugar, oats, eggs, flour, salt, and baking powder. After baking, they are spread with a delicious vanilla buttercream and dipped into melted dark chocolate. These tasty cookies are perfect with afternoon coffee, for a picnic, or on a buffet table alongside a cake.

Oatmeal cookies are a classic, but they can easily be flavored with additions like grated orange peel, cinnamon, ginger, or cardamom. The buttercream can also be spiced with orange zest or licorice powder. Instead of dark chocolate, you can dip the cookies in white or milk chocolate. The oatmeal cookies alone can be stored for several weeks in a cookie tin at room temperature and enjoyed even without the buttercream and chocolate. Enjoy!
