Homemade Crab Rangoon (Deep-Fried Wontons)

Instructions

  1. Make the filling
    In a bowl, combine:

    • Cream cheese
    • Chopped crab
    • Green onions
    • Soy sauce
    • Garlic powder
    • Black pepper

Mix until smooth and well combined.

  2. Assemble the wontons
    • Place a wonton wrapper on a flat surface.
    • Add about 1 teaspoon of filling in the center.
    • Moisten the edges with a little water.
    • Fold and seal (triangle or pinch all corners together to form a pouch).
    • Press edges firmly to avoid leaks.
  3. Heat the oil
Heat oil in a deep pan or fryer to 350°F (175°C).
  4. Fry
    • Fry the wontons in batches (don’t overcrowd).
    • Cook for 2–3 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
    • Remove and drain on paper towels.
  5. Serve
Serve hot with sweet chili sauce, duck sauce, or soy sauce.

Tips

  • Make sure the edges are sealed well so they don’t open while frying.
  • Keep unused wrappers covered so they don’t dry out.
  • You can bake or air-fry them for a lighter version if you want.
