Apple Pie Filling Coffee Cake

Instructions

 

 

  1. Preheat & Prep: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.

  2. Mix the Batter: In a large bowl, combine the dry cake mix, cinnamon, sour cream, eggs, and water. Mix until well combined (the batter will be thicker than standard cake batter).

  3. The Apple Layer: Spread the cake batter into the prepared baking dish. Spoon the apple pie filling over the top. You can leave it in dollops or gently swirl it into the top of the batter with a knife for a marbled effect.

  4. Bake: Bake for 35–40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the cake portion comes out clean.

  5. Glaze: While the cake is still warm (but not hot), whisk together the powdered sugar and milk until smooth. Drizzle the glaze generously over the cake.

  6. Serve: This is best served warm, ideally with a hot cup of coffee!

Extra Tip

If the apple chunks in your pie filling are very large, you can give them a quick chop with a knife before adding them to the cake so you get a bit of apple in every single bite.
