Butter Cream Pecan Pound Cake

Ingredients

For the Cake:

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • ½ cup butter-flavored shortening (or substitute with ½ cup extra butter)
  • 3 cups granulated sugar
  • 5 large eggs
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chopped pecans, lightly toasted

For the Butter Cream Topping (optional but heavenly):

  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1–2 cups powdered sugar, sifted
  • 2–3 tbsp milk or heavy cream
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
