This is a staple in our family! My kids loved it and quickly devoured the leftovers the next morning!

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Oven & Prepare Sauce: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). In a saucepan, melt the 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Stir in the 2 tablespoons of flour and cook for about 1 minute. Gradually whisk in the 1 cup of heavy cream and 1 cup of milk, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens. Add the 1 teaspoon of garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Stir in 1 ½ cups of the shredded cheddar cheese until it is melted and the sauce is smooth.
  2. Layer the Casserole: Layer half of the 6 thinly sliced potatoes in a greased disposable aluminum tray or a baking dish. Sprinkle half of the 6 slices of crumbled bacon over the potato layer. Pour half of the prepared cheese sauce over the potatoes and bacon. Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, bacon, and cheese sauce.
  3. Top & Bake: Sprinkle the remaining ½ cup of cheddar cheese and the ½ cup of breadcrumbs evenly over the top of the casserole. Cover the tray with foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and crispy and the potatoes are tender.
  4. Serve: Let the dish cool for a few minutes before serving.

Enjoy this rich and delicious potato dish!
