Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a baking pan.

In a bowl, mash ripe bananas and mix in eggs, oil, and vanilla extract.

In a separate bowl, combine whole wheat flour, baking soda, and honey/maple syrup.

Add dry ingredients to wet ingredients and stir in nuts/seeds.

Pour batter into the prepared pan and add any optional toppings.

Bake for about 1 hour, or until golden and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Allow the banana bread to cool before slicing and serving.
