Slow Cooker Ground Beef French Dip Sandwiches

Instructions

  • In a skillet you will add your ground beef and thinly sliced onions in a skillet.
  • Cook over medium heat until the beef is cooked all the way through. Drain off grease.
  • Add the mixture to the slow cooker. Then add in the oats, broth, soup mix, Worcestershire sauce, garlic, and pepper. Stir well.
  • Cover and cook on low for 3-4 hours.
  • About 15-20 minutes before serving add your cheese on top. Place lid back on and let it melt.
  • Serve on brioche buns or slider rolls.

Variations 

  • Use shredded steak instead of ground beef as a twist in texture.
  • Add in some sliced jalapenos or banana peppers for a kick of flavor to the mixture.
  • Slice bell peppers and cook with the onions and add in the mixture.
  • Season the beef with Italian herbs and spices for a twist on flavors.
  • Use American cheese, mozzarella, or even Swiss cheese for topping.
  • Use garlic bread, French bread, or even baguette to serve your filling on instead of a classic bun.
  • Mix in sliced mushrooms to the meat mixture for an earthy flavor to the French dip filling.
  • Caramelize the onions before you add to the slow cooker to really ramp up the onion flavor in the mixture.
  • Drizzle on horseradish sauce or even a spicy mustard on the bun for a nice kick of spice.
