In a skillet you will add your ground beef and thinly sliced onions in a skillet.

Cook over medium heat until the beef is cooked all the way through. Drain off grease.

Add the mixture to the slow cooker. Then add in the oats, broth, soup mix, Worcestershire sauce, garlic, and pepper. Stir well.

Cover and cook on low for 3-4 hours.

About 15-20 minutes before serving add your cheese on top. Place lid back on and let it melt.

Serve on brioche buns or slider rolls.
Variations
- Use shredded steak instead of ground beef as a twist in texture.
- Add in some sliced jalapenos or banana peppers for a kick of flavor to the mixture.
- Slice bell peppers and cook with the onions and add in the mixture.
- Season the beef with Italian herbs and spices for a twist on flavors.
- Use American cheese, mozzarella, or even Swiss cheese for topping.
- Use garlic bread, French bread, or even baguette to serve your filling on instead of a classic bun.
- Mix in sliced mushrooms to the meat mixture for an earthy flavor to the French dip filling.
