POTATO PANCAKES (LATKES)

 

Steps

 

Follow these simple steps to make mouthwatering potato pancakes:

Step 1: Grate the Potatoes and Onion

Peel the potatoes and grate them using a box grater or a food processor. Finely grate the onion as well.

Step 2: Squeeze Out Excess Moisture

Place the grated potatoes and onion in a clean kitchen towel or cheesecloth. Squeeze out as much moisture as possible.

Step 3: Mix the Batter

In a large bowl, combine the grated potatoes, onion, eggs, flour, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all the ingredients are evenly incorporated.

Step 4: Heat the Oil

In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Make sure the oil is hot enough to sizzle when a small amount of batter is dropped into it.

Step 5: Fry the Pancakes

Drop spoonfuls of the potato mixture into the hot oil, flattening them slightly with the back of the spoon. Fry until golden brown on both sides, flipping them once during cooking.

Step 6: Drain and Serve

Transfer the cooked potato pancakes to a paper towel-lined plate to drain the excess oil. Serve them hot with your favorite toppings or sauces.
