Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with paper liners.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and salt. Mix well.

Add the melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

Gently fold in the chopped pecans and optional chocolate chips, if desired.

Scoop the batter into the prepared muffin tin, filling each cup about 3/4 full.

Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of a muffin comes out clean.

Remove the muffins from the oven and let them cool in the tin for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
