Old-Fashioned Cherry Cobbler

Instructions


Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
In a saucepan, combine cherries, 1 cup sugar, lemon juice, vanilla, and cornstarch.
Cook over medium heat until the cherries bubble and the mixture thickens.
Pour hot cherry mixture into a greased baking dish.

In a bowl, mix flour, 1 cup sugar, baking powder, and salt.
Stir in milk and melted butter until a smooth batter forms.
Pour the batter evenly over the cherries — do not stir.

Bake for 40–50 minutes, or until the top is golden and the filling is bubbling around the edges.

Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for true Southern comfort.
