PREPARATION FOR BAKING:

Use an 8x8x3 inch baking pan.

Preheat the oven for 15–20 minutes before baking.

Grease the sides of the pan with butter.

Line the bottom of the pan with baking paper.

Pour the batter into the pan and bake at 170°C with top and bottom heat.
TIPS:

The batter should fall smoothly when lifted.

If it’s too thick, you can add more fresh milk.

The butter and sugar must be fully creamed until really fluffy — this step is crucial.

If you’re using all-purpose flour, mix in 1 teaspoon of baking powder and sift 3 times before using.
