Just Like in the School Cafeteria! Milk Cookies with a Taste of Childhood

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the dough base:
Soften the butter and mix it with the sugar until well combined.
Crack the egg, beat it, and set a small amount aside for brushing the cookies before baking.

  2. Combine the ingredients:
Add the beaten egg (minus the reserved part), milk, and vanilla sugar to the butter-sugar mixture.
    Mix until smooth and creamy.

  3. Add dry ingredients:
In a separate bowl, mix the flour with the baking powder.
Sift the flour mixture into the wet mixture and knead until you get a soft, smooth dough.

  4. Shape the cookies:
Dust your work surface with flour and roll out the dough to about 8 mm (just under 1 cm) thick.
Use cookie cutters or a glass to cut out shapes.

  5. Bake:
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and place the cookies on it.
Brush the tops with the reserved beaten egg.
Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for about 15 minutes, or until golden.

Enjoy these tender, slightly chewy cookies with a glass of milk or a cup of tea — and take a bite back in time!
