Ingredients

NUT FILLING INGREDIENTS

  • 1-2 pound nuts, ground (about 1 1/2 lbs walnuts, 1/2 lbs pecans)
  • 2 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 large apple, grated
  • 3/4 – 1 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 2 sticks butter, melted

DOUGH INGREDIENTS

  • 2 packages dry yeast (or 2 yeast cakes)
  • 1/2 cup warm milk
  • 6 – 6 1/2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
  • 6 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 3 large eggs, beaten
  • 2 sticks butter, melted or very soft

ICING INGREDIENTS

  • 2 cups confectioners’ sugar
  • 2-3 tablespoons milk
