Apple Cinnamon Rolls
Introduction
These apple cinnamon rolls are the perfect blend of sweet, fruity, and spicy. The apple filling adds texture and freshness, while the cream cheese glaze completes the perfect treat.
Ingredients
Dough
- 1 cup warm milk
- 2¼ tsp active dry yeast
- ¼ cup sugar
- 1 egg + 1 egg yolk
- ¼ cup melted butter
- 3½ cups all-purpose flour
- ¾ tsp salt
Apple Filling
- 2 cups apples, peeled & diced
- ¼ cup brown sugar
- 1½ tsp cinnamon
- ¼ tsp nutmeg
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tbsp butter
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
Cinnamon Sugar
- ¼ cup brown sugar
- 1½ tsp cinnamon
- ¼ cup softened butter
Cream Cheese Glaze
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- 2 tbsp butter
- ¾ cup powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1–2 tbsp milk
Instructions (Method)
- Apple filling: Cook apples, butter, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and cornstarch over medium heat until soft and thick. Cool.
- Mix warm milk, yeast, and sugar; rest 5–10 minutes until foamy.
- Add eggs, butter, flour, and salt; knead until smooth.
- Rise 1 hour until doubled.
- Roll dough, spread butter, sprinkle cinnamon sugar, and spoon apple filling evenly.
- Roll, slice, and place in a greased pan.
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25–30 minutes.
- Spread glaze over warm rolls.
