Grandma’s Traditional Bread Pudding with Vanilla Sauce

Instructions

🥄 For the Pudding:

  1. Preheat the oven to 175 °C (350 °F).

  2. In a large bowl, combine the cubed bread and raisins.

  3. In a saucepan, mix the milk and sugar. Heat over medium-low until the sugar dissolves.

  4. Remove from heat and stir in the 1/3 cup of butter until melted.

  5. Pour the warm milk mixture over the bread and let it soak for 8–10 minutes.

  6. In a separate bowl, whisk together the condensed milk, evaporated milk, eggs, nutmeg, cinnamon, and vanilla.

  7. Pour the egg mixture over the soaked bread and stir gently to combine.

  8. Transfer the mixture to a 9×11-inch (23×28 cm) baking dish.

  9. Dot the top of the pudding with small chunks of the remaining 3 tablespoons of butter.

  10. Bake for 35–45 minutes, or until the top is golden and slightly crisp.

🍯 For the Vanilla Sauce:

  1. In a clean saucepan, combine the cream, butter, powdered sugar, and condensed milk.

  2. Simmer over medium heat, stirring until everything is well combined.

  3. Once the sauce starts to thicken slightly (after about 8 minutes), remove from heat.

  4. Stir in the vanilla extract.

To Serve:

Serve the pudding warm, topped generously with the warm vanilla sauce. Enjoy every spoonful — it’s comfort food at its finest.
