How To Make ghee’s old-fashioned apple pie

We did not have waxed paper handy. We covered the apples lightly with vented plastic wrap.
Prick pie crust with a fork.
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. Prick the bottom and sides of the crust with a fork.
Bake crust until golden brown.
Step 2
Bake for 12 to 15 minutes or until lightly golden.
Combine walnuts, flour, brown sugar, and melted butter in a bowl.
Step 3
While the crust is baking, mix walnuts, flour, and brown sugar in a bowl. Work in butter with fingertips until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Set aside.
Combine sugar, corn starch, cinnamon, apples, and lemon juice in a bowl.
Step 4
In a large bowl, combine sugar, corn starch, and cinnamon. Toss in apples and lemon juice.
Loosely cover apples and microwave.
Step 5
Cover with waxed paper and microwave on high for 12 minutes; stirring halfway through.
Brush the pie crust with the egg white.

Step 6

Immediately brush the bottom and sides of the hot crust with a light coating of egg white. Reset oven to 425 degrees F.
Spoon apples into the crust.
Step 7
Spoon filling into crust.
Sprinkle crumb topping over apples.
Step 8
Sprinkle crimb topping over the filling.
Bake the pie.
Step 9
Bake the pie for 10 to 12 minutes or until the topping is golden. Cool on a wire rack.
