Instructions
1. Preheat & Melt Butter
-
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
-
Place the stick of butter in a 9×13 baking dish and put it in the oven to melt.
-
Keep an eye on it so it doesn’t burn.
-
2. Prepare Peaches
In a medium bowl, mix:
-
Sliced peaches
-
½ cup sugar
-
Lemon juice
-
Cinnamon (optional)
If using canned peaches, reduce sugar to ¼ cup.
3. Make the Batter
In another bowl, combine:
-
Flour
-
Sugar
-
Baking powder
-
Salt
Add milk and stir until smooth.
Do not combine the batter with the peaches — they layer in the pan.
4. Layer in the Pan
-
Pour the batter over the melted butter in the baking dish.
Don’t stir. -
Spoon peaches (and their juices) evenly on top of the batter.
Still don’t stir — the batter rises around the peaches as it bakes.
5. Bake
Bake 40–50 minutes until golden brown and bubbly.
Edges will be slightly crisp — the best part!
6. Serve
Serve warm with:
-
Vanilla ice cream
-
Whipped cream
-
Or just by itself (it’s amazing)
