‘Dessert done in one dish’—Just 4 ingredients. I bring this to every party because it disappears fast.
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Spread the cherry pie filling evenly in the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking dish.
Sprinkle the dry chocolate cake mix evenly over the cherry pie filling.
Pour the melted butter evenly over the top of the cake mix.
Sprinkle the chopped nuts over the top, if using.
Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the top is bubbly and the edges are golden brown.
Let it cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm with your favorite ice cream or whipped cream.
Variations & Tips
For a richer flavor, consider adding a teaspoon of almond extract to the cherry pie filling. You can also experiment with different types of nuts or leave them out entirely if you prefer a nut-free dessert. If you’re a fan of dark chocolate, try using a dark chocolate cake mix for an even deeper chocolate flavor. To add some texture, sprinkle a handful of chocolate chips over the cake mix before baking. This dessert is versatile and forgiving, so feel free to adapt it based on what you have on hand or your personal preferences.
