Cookies Tastier Than Napoleon Cake: No Cream Needed. The Easiest Recipe

Cookies first appeared in Persia, around the 8th century BC. However, Persian records suggest that cookies were already being baked by then — meaning they likely originated even earlier.

The Persian cookies were made from rice flour. They were quite expensive at the time, as were many desserts in antiquity.

Over time, cookie recipes spread across European countries. Today, nearly every country has its own traditional cookie. Here’s how you can make flaky cookies at home.

Ingredients for the flaky cookies:

  • Kefir – 60 ml

  • Sugar – 1 tbsp

  • Egg – 1 pc

  • Butter – 120 g (cold)

  • Flour – 260 g

  • Baking powder – 1 tsp

  • Salt – a pinch

For the filling:

  • Sugar – 50 g

  • Shredded coconut – 50 g
