Preparation:
Dough
-
In a saucepan, bring the water to a boil with the sugar, salt, and oil.
-
Remove from heat and add the flour all at once.
-
Stir vigorously with a wooden spoon until the dough comes together into a smooth ball.
-
(Optional): Add 1 egg and mix well for a softer consistency.
Shaping the Churros
-
Transfer the dough to a piping bag fitted with a star-shaped nozzle.
-
Pipe out sticks about 10–12 cm (4–5 inches) long onto small rectangles of parchment paper (as shown in the photo, if available).
Frying
-
Heat oil in a deep pan to 175°C (350°F).
-
Gently drop the churro sticks into the hot oil (the parchment paper will release quickly).
-
Fry for about 2–3 minutes per side, until golden and crispy.
Finishing Touch
-
Drain on paper towels.
-
Immediately roll in a mixture of sugar and cinnamon.
Serving:
Serve hot with melted chocolate or Nutella for dipping.
