Steps
1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. Arrange the saltine crackers in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet, ensuring that the entire surface is covered.
3. In a saucepan, melt the butter and brown sugar together over medium heat, stirring constantly until the mixture is smooth and bubbly.
4. Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract and salt.
5. Pour the butter-sugar mixture over the saltine crackers, making sure to coat them evenly.
6. Bake the toffee-covered crackers in the preheated oven for 10 minutes, or until the toffee layer is bubbling and caramelized.
7. Remove the baking sheet from the oven and sprinkle the chocolate chips over the hot toffee layer.
8. Allow the chocolate chips to melt for a few minutes, then use a spatula to spread the chocolate evenly over the toffee.
9. Sprinkle the chopped nuts over the melted chocolate, pressing them gently into the surface.
10. For an extra touch of flavor, sprinkle flaky sea salt over the nuts.
