CHINESE SWEET AND SOUR SAUCE – THE PERFECT CONDIMENT FOR ASIAN DISHES!

Preparation

  1. Dissolve the cornstarch:
In a glass, mix the cornstarch with cold water, stirring well to avoid lumps.

  2. Combine the ingredients:
Pour the liquid into a small saucepan and add the rice vinegar, sugar, tomato paste, and a pinch of salt.

  3. Cook the sauce:
Place the saucepan over low heat and stir constantly. Bring it to a boil until the sauce thickens and becomes smooth and glossy (about 5–8 minutes).

  4. Adjust the flavor:
Taste the sauce. If the vinegar flavor is too strong, add a little more sugar while it’s still hot.

  5. Let it cool:
Turn off the heat and let the sauce cool completely before serving.

Tips & Variations

  • Sweeter version? Add a teaspoon of honey for a more balanced flavor.

  • Spicy version? Add a few drops of sriracha or some chopped chili.

  • Fruity version? Replace half the water with pineapple juice for a tropical twist!

  • How to use it? Perfect for spring rolls, Chinese dumplings, sweet and sour chicken, or stir-fried vegetables!
