Ingredients
For the Cake:

- ½ cup butter-flavored shortening (or substitute with ½ cup extra butter)
- 3 cups granulated sugar
- 5 large eggs
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup chopped pecans, lightly toasted
For the Butter Cream Topping (optional but heavenly):
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1–2 cups powdered sugar, sifted
- 2–3 tbsp milk or heavy cream
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
