Preparation
- Add butter to a medium-sized saucepan and melt over medium heat.
- Add cocoa powder and sweetened condensed milk to the melted butter and mix until smooth.
- Stirring constantly, continue to cook the mixture until very thick and the edges are starting to pull away from the pan (this should take about 10-14 minutes). Remove pan from heat.
- Grease an 8×8-inch dish (or a plate with a lip) with butter, then spoon the chocolate mixture onto it and spread into a thin layer.
- Chill in the refrigerator for 1-2 hours.
- When ready to roll, pour sprinkles into a shallow bowl and prepare serving plate or container you will place the complete brigadeiros in.
- Remove chocolate mixture from fridge and grease the palms or your hands.
- Spoon out small portions of the mixture and roll into balls. Roll balls in the sprinkles until completely covered.
- Refrigerate completed brigadeiros until ready to serve.
