Black Forest Cake 

Ingredients

For the sponge cake:

  • 6 eggs, separated

  • 250 g sugar

  • 6 tbsp hot water

  • 200 g flour

  • 75 g cornstarch

  • 50 g cocoa powder

  • 2 tsp baking powder

For the filling and decoration:

  • 1 jar sour cherries (pitted)

  • 25 g cornstarch

  • 800 g whipping cream

  • 1 packet cream stabilizer (or 1 tbsp cornstarch)

  • 1 tbsp sugar

  • Kirsch (cherry schnapps), for soaking

  • Chocolate shavings, for decoration
