Apple Cake

Preparation:

  1. Prepare the caramelized apples
    Peel the apples and slice them thinly.
    In a pan, melt the butter with the sugar and lemon juice.
    Add the apples and cook for 5–7 minutes until soft and caramelized.

  2. Prepare the batter
    In a bowl, whisk the eggs with the sugar until light and frothy.
    Add the melted butter and vanilla extract, mix well.
    Sift in the flour and baking powder, then fold gently.

  3. Assemble the cake
    Line the bottom of a 24 cm cake tin with parchment paper.
    Arrange the caramelized apples on the bottom.
    Pour the batter over the apples.

  4. Bake
    Bake in a preheated static oven at 180°C (356°F) for about 35–40 minutes.
    Do the toothpick test to check if it’s done!

  5. Invert
    Let the cake cool for 5 minutes, then flip it onto a serving plate.
