How to Cook Steak in the Air Fryer
Some people like their steak rare, and some like it well done. But no matter how you like your steak, there’s one thing we can all agree on: steak is best cooked in the air fryer. That’s right – the air fryer is the perfect tool for cooking up a delicious steak. Here’s how to do it:

Now dust the seasoning on both sides, then coat with Worcheshire sauce. Feel free to use any other spices you like.
- Brush the oil on both sides of the steaks. I love to use theOXO food basting brush to coat the steak evenly.
- Now dust the seasoning on both sides, then coat with Worcheshire sauce. Feel free to use any other spices you like.
- Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 5 minutes. The basket needs to be very hot. The air fryer that I use to cook all meat is Ninja Air Fryer XL 6-in-1. I love this machine because it cooks meats so well and you don’t have to deal with splatter. Easy to wipe after use.
- Cook the 1-inch ribeye steak at 400F for 8 minutes if you like it rare, 10 minutes if you like it medium-rare, or 12 minutes if you like it well done. Be sure to set the timer and flip the steak halfway through cooking.
- Times may vary for the size of the steak also depending on different air fryer models.
- You can check the internal temperature with the help of a meat thermometer. FDA
recommends the following temperatures:
Rare: 125°F
Medium-Rare: 135°F
Medium: 145°F
Medium-Well: 155°F
Well: 160°F
- After reaching the desired doneness cover the steak with aluminum foil for 5 minutes. So that all the flavor can easily absorb into the steak.
- Top it with the garlic-parsley butter and Enjoy!!
Tips for the Best Air Fryer Steak
- Steak type: I have used the leaner ribeye steak in this recipe. But you can make any steak recipe by this method.
- Steak thickness: For air fryer steak, you’ll want to use a thicker cut, such as a ribeye or New York strip. If you’re using a thinner cut, such as flank or skirt steak, it’s best to cook it using the searing method instead. Thinner steaks cook rather quickly but do not brown properly from the outside.
- Room temperature: Your steaks should be at room temperature before cooking to get an amazing result. Let the steak sit at room temp for 30 minutes before cooking.
- Pat dry: Pat dry the ribeye steaks before seasoning them. It will lead to better crispiness and browning.
- Overloaded basket: Do not overload the air fryer basket because steaks will not cook properly as per your desired texture.
- Get the Air fryer HOT: Pre-heat your air fryer for 5 minutes. If the temperature of your device goes up to 450°F (230°C), use it to preheat at this temp.
- Thaw the steak: Yes, you can use frozen steaks for this recipe. But thaw them before cooking.
- Directly on a rack: It is best not to use aluminum foil or parchment paper. Cook the steak directly on the air fryer basket (or tray) so that the hot air can circulate all around the steak for proper caramelization.
- Rest: Always let your steaks rest for at least five minutes before cutting into them. This will help to ensure that all of the delicious juices stay locked in.
