A soft, fluffy, chocolatey sponge cake served with classic custard cream. This large cake is perfect for a festive table or a family celebration.

Ingredients:

For the sponge cake:

  • 5 eggs

  • A pinch of salt

  • Vanilla to taste

  • 150 g sugar

  • 50 ml water

  • 40 g cocoa powder

  • 1 tsp baking powder

  • 110 g flour

For the custard cream:

  • 2 eggs

  • 120 g sugar

  • Vanilla

  • 40 g cornstarch

  • 500 ml milk

  • 150 g butter

For soaking the layers:

  • 100 ml milk

For the glaze:

  • 100 g dark chocolate

  • 60 g butter

  • Optional: chopped nuts
